While many things have changed over the last several months, one thing has remained the same: the Yummy Dental team is committed to having the health and safety of both our patients and staff as our #1 priority. We know that patients in the Chicago and Glenview area might be curious as to whether or not it’s safe to return to the dentist, and the answer is “Yes!”

Now more than ever, we want our patients and families to know that maintaining oral health is essential for overall health, and regular visits to the dentists are an important component of your child's personal healthcare. For those looking forward to catching up on missed appointments and scheduling needed dental care, we have added these measures to provide a safe and secure environment and experience for you and your family members.

We have put into place new Coronavirus (COVID-19) protocol and infection control measures recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). You can read all about our detailed office plans on our COVID-19 Protocol page on our website. We want to answer a few common questions when returning to the dentist and include a helpful infographic to keep you and your family safe!

YDOK COVID-19 Protocol

What changes have been made to keep staff and patients safe?

  • Deep cleaning treatment rooms between patients, and disinfecting restrooms and common areas more frequently. All non-essential items (magazines, children’s toys, games) will also be removed from the reception room to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Upon arrival, please call the office (773-281-8100 or 847-729-4700) to let us know you are here. We will then confirm that you can come on in or, we may ask that you wait for a few minutes to assure social distancing and to allow us to thoroughly sanitize.
  • For added protection, you will be asked to sanitize your hands when you come in and when you leave.
  • To confirm your health status, we will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some health screening questions related to COVID-19. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you come for your appointment to assure there have been no changes in your health.
  • Dentists and staff will be wearing additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as an added layer of security for you and them. This includes gloves, masks, face shields, and gowns.

What do patients need to do to keep themselves safe?

  • If you feel unwell or have a fever within 24 hours of your visit, please stay home and reschedule your appointment.
  • If you are well and able to enter the office, wear a mask, maintain a proper social distance of six feet, and wash or sanitize your hands before and after your visit to prevent the spread of germs between patients and staff.

How is the dental staff protecting themselves?

  • Frequent deep cleanings, new waiting room layouts to promote social distancing, patient health screenings, PPE and more, are being implemented to not only protect patients, but provide a layer of security and protection for the dental staff as well.
  • We will also be screening our doctors and team daily to ensure that all of our team members are healthy at the office.
